Rachel Kenesei was born and raised in Budapest. She started playing cello at the age of 8. A couple of years later she found a violin in the attic and for a while switched to it.

From her first little income, she bought a guitar and started taking classical guitar lessons. Immediately she knew that this was her true instrument. Through sheer luck, in the midst of her economic studies at the University, she discovered Jazz. In 2006 she was accepted to the Béla Bartók Conservatory of Music, where she studied Jazz under Gábor Juhász. In 2009 she graduated as a Jazz guitarist.
She has been playing in various bands since 2006. For over 3 years she has been the main solo guitarist for Lakmusz Improvisational Theatre and often works with dancers, actors and painters.
